Section 2: From the Pure Oil silo, the Uphill, Past the Cut-offs, under the car bridge,                                                        around the backside to the Jump

30.  After the silo
31.  Track washed out by that tiny creek
32.  Left hander before you start on The Uphill
33.  Hard right turn leading onto The Uphill has already began to tilt upward
34.  Starting up The Uphill
35.  Continuing up
36.  And up
37.  And up
38.  And up
39.  The crest is in sight
40.  We're getting there
41.  The cut-off for the 1.1 mile North End circuit is just to the right in this down track view
42.  Following the route of the 1.1 mile North End cut-off
43.  You zig to the right
44.  And then left, then back right onto the main straight just before the pedestrian overpass
45.  Back to the main course.  Paving on right is where the 2.2 mi course cut-off rejoins the course
46.  A sweeping left hander takes you downhill
47.  The downhill left hander continues
48.  The straight after the left hander continues downhill
49.  And continues.  It wasn't quite this wavey in the good old days
50.  The right hand turn leading to the vehicle overpass
51.  The trees ahead now hide the side of the bridge ramp, a solid timber wall about 8 feet tall
52.  You did your best to ignore that wall you were aiming for as you roared flat out up this hill
53.  And made a left hander under the car bridge
54.  The steel skeleton of the 2-lane car bridge
55.  View out from under the bridge sees the track disappear under fill
56.  A trail looks as if it may follow the old track, but it just leads into the brush
57.  I searched the area in vain for any sign of of the old track in June
58.  In August, I returned with an aerial photo to guide me.  You can see the paving through the bush
59.  The filled area ends and we're back onto the original asphalt again
60.  Back on the what's left of the paving of "Steffen's Straight", the track emerges from the heavy brush
61.  Looking left.  Enlarge this picture to see the house whose backyard is within a few feet of the paving
62.  The curve around the back of the old Monza Wall, going gently uphill
63.  The curve continues
64.  And starts to gain elevation approaching the jump.
65.  Cresting this lip, still hung out from the curve, cars jumped sideways in an unsettling manner
66.  The landing area for the jump, looking down the straight to Doane's Corner

Because of the size of this picture file, it has been broken into three pieces.

59A.  (This "lost" section took more frames than I expected)  This is Carl's Bend
59B.  Downhill on Steffen's Straight
59C.  More Steffen's Staight
59D.  To the right used to be a small pond that sometimes overflowed onto the track
59E.  Its banks have apparently broken down and made this whole area marshy.  This was not filled
59F.  Brush and trees have grown up right through the paving.  The track comes into view again
since 6-1-04
